Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Design Release Engineer at the Warren Technical Center to lead cross-functional teams across product engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and purchasing for boosting and exhaust systems.

You will drive design releases, DFMEA, test programs and production readiness, with global collaboration and up to 10% travel. A BS in Engineering is required, with 5+ years of related experience; MS preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.
• 5+ years in internal-combustion engine, powertrain, hardware testing, turbocharged-engine or Exhaust/EGR development.
• Experience creating or reviewing engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, requirements, DFMEA, DVP&R, and design-release documentation.
• Experience managing supplier technical deliverables, APQP, PPAP, engineering changes, and production-launch readiness.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with calibration, controls, emissions, manufacturing, thermal, NVH, validation, and supplier teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and purchasing for design, analysis, development, validation and production implementation of boosting & exhaust systems.
• Release designs/components to meet program performance and timing, conform to best practices, and implement design changes.
• Lead DFMEA activities and manage complex test/development programs.
• Define hardware and budget requirements for experimental build phases.
• Lead PDT meetings and participate in PMT/COE/Engine Program Team meetings.
• Support supplier quality assurance and warranty issue resolution.
• Travel 5–10% domestically and internationally.
