Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort in California is seeking detail-oriented Tuning & Repair Technicians to keep guests' ski and snowboard equipment safe, sharp, and ready, while delivering excellent service.

You’ll ring up sales, repair all types of gear, test bindings, operate tuning machinery, and work with Rentals. Certification training is provided.

This full-time role requires 18+ and the ability to work outdoors in winter, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Experience with ski and snowboard tuning equipment and machinery.
• Willing and able to complete a certification course (training provided).
• Able to communicate clearly and confidently.

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking detail-oriented, mechanically-minded tinkerers to join our team as Tuning & Repair Technicians. In this hands-on role, you'll keep our guests' ski and snowboard equipment safe, sharp, and ready to go, all while delivering exemplary customer service to the public and fellow employees alike, in every situation and at all times.

Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. Who You Are:

You’ve got prior experience with ski and snowboard tuning equipment and machinery

Know your gear inside and out - old-school and cutting-edge alike

Willing and able to complete a certification course (training provided)

Able to communicate clearly and confidently

Comfortable with basic computer skills

You stay calm, steady, and professional even in stressful situations

18 years of age or older

What You’ll do:

Ring up sales and rentals on our point-of-sale system

Prioritize safety in everything you do, and uphold Sugar Bowl’s core values in your work and interactions with guests and teammates

Spot potential problems with gear before they become guest problems

Help guests find properly fitting gear

Repair all types of ski and snowboard equipment, including boots, bindings, skis, snowboards, and helmets

Transport gear and shop equipment throughout the resort daily

Keep the workshop clean, organized, and running smoothly, with all equipment in its proper place

Maintain the quality, cleanliness, and organization of the shop and all mechanical equipment

Committed to staying current on the latest tuning and repair techniques, tools, and equipment in the industry

Work closely with the Rentals department

Share your Sugar Bowl know-how and answer guest questions with a smile

Maintain rental gear and ensure all bindings are properly tested using ASTM testing standards, accurately recording pass/fail results into RTP to keep our records compete and correct

Pitch in with snow removal (shoveling) before, during, and after storms

Physical Requirements:

Able to stand, bend, and move around the workshop for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift

Capable of regularly lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs

Comfortable safely operating power tools and tuning machinery

Comfortable working outdoors in cold, winter weather conditions for extended periods

Manual dexterity for precise equipment repair and tuning work

Able to walk and stand safely on varied terrain, including snow and ice

Willing and able to shovel snow as needed
