Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a hands-on Tuning & Repair Supervisor to lead our shop. You will oversee daily operations, guide a skilled team, and ensure top-quality equipment service for guests and teammates.

Ideal candidates have extensive tuning experience, supervisory skills, and a passion for training others, while maintaining safety and professional standards in a dynamic winter environment.

Qualifications

  • Supervisory or lead experience in a shop setting.
  • Ability to train and mentor technicians.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
  • Maintain safety and quality workmanship at all times.
  • Comfort with basic computer skills and POS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Tuning & Repair shop to keep workflow smooth.
  • Supervise, train, and support technicians to high safety and quality standards.
  • Repair and calibrate ski and snowboard equipment including boots, bindings, skis, and helmets.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Manage inventory and supplies to meet guest demand.
  • Coordinate with other teams to service hotel guests and homeowners.

Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Tuning & Repair Supervisor to lead our Tuning and Repair shop. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in top-notch equipment work, enjoys coaching a skilled team, and is committed to delivering exemplary service to every guest and teammate who walks through the door.

Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to “sunny California” since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts alike.

Who You Are:
  • You've got extensive experience with ski and snowboard tuning equipment and machinery, old and new
  • You have supervisory or lead experience, with a genuine passion for training and mentoring others
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to everything you do
  • Ability to stay calm, patient, and professional even in stressful situations
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Comfortable with basic computer skills and point-of-sale systems
  • You're in good physical condition and able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • You're 18 years of age or older
What You’ll do:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Tuning & Repair shop, keeping workflow smooth and efficient
  • Supervise, train, and support technicians to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism
  • Repair and calibrate ski and snowboard equipment - including boots, bindings, skis, snowboards, and helmets - stepping in hands-on as needed
  • Maintain all tools, machinery, and equipment in excellent working condition
  • Track and manage repair shop inventory and supplies to meet guest demand
  • Address guest questions, concerns, and escalated issues with timely, thoughtful resolutions
  • Manage staff timekeeping and scheduling in accordance with company policy
  • Champion our Core Values and a culture of safety, making sure the whole team follows company policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with the Rental Shop team to coordinate guest equipment needed
  • Take initiative and operate independently in the Rental Manager's absence
  • Pitch in with snow removal and other physical tasks as needed
  • Work closely with Guest Services, Hotel, and Village Services teams to coordinate tuning and repair needs for hotel guests, homeowners, and visitors
  • Coordinate the transportation of equipment across the resort
Physical Requirements:
  • A bility to stand, bend, and move around the workshop for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift
  • Capable of regularly lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to safely operate power tools and tuning machinery
  • Comfortable working outdoors in cold, winter weather conditions for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for precise equipment repair and tuning work
  • Able to walk and stand safely on varied terrain, including snow and ice
  • Willing and able to shovel snow as needed
