Job summary

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Journeyman Resort Maintenance Technician to keep our facilities and village homes running at the highest standard. You’ll lead project work, mentor apprentices, and step in for the department manager when needed, solving complex problems with calm efficiency.

Ideal candidates have hands-on trades experience across plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, with snow removal skills and the ability to operate over‑the‑snow equipment, APU systems, and standard maintenance

Qualifications

  • Meets the qualifications for both Maintenance Technician (Intermediate) and Maintenance Technician Apprentice roles, with proven hands‑on skill across the trade.
  • Holds basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills and required certifications
  • Ready and willing to serve as lead technician on project work
  • Comfortable stepping up as the leading technician when the department manager is unavailable
  • Brings strong working knowledge of facility and village home day‑to‑day operational needs
  • Has basic snow removal knowledge, including manual shoveling when conditions call for it
  • Knows how to start all APUs in village homes
  • A sharp problem solver who troubleshoots efficiently and stays calm under pressure
  • Has begun developing the skills to teach and mentor others on the team
  • Operates over‑the‑snow equipment with above‑average skill

Responsibilities

  • Complete all work to the highest possible standard of quality and craftsmanship
  • Complete work quickly, efficiently, and in a productive manner
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general facility systems
  • Serve as lead technician on project work, coordinating tasks and sequencing to keep jobs on schedule
  • Step up as the leading technician in the department manager's absence, keeping the team on track
  • Mentor and teach skills to apprentice technicians and newer team members
  • Respond promptly to work orders and urgent facility needs across the resort and village homes; Use Salesforce to track and close work orders
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to keep facilities in good working order
  • Operate over‑the‑snow equipment safely and skillfully
  • Support snow removal efforts, including manual shoveling, as conditions require
  • Work in a safe, clean, and organized environment at all times
  • Bring a pleasant, can‑do attitude to work each day
  • Encourage teammates to work efficiently and effectively
  • Support and display all company values while on the job

Description

Sugar Bowl Resort is seeking a Journeyman Resort Maintenance Technician to keep our facilities and village homes running the way our guests and homeowners expect - without a hitch. This is a role for a seasoned, hands‑on tradesperson who already knows their way around a toolbox and is ready to take the next step: leading project work, stepping up when the department manager can't be there, and passing skills on to the next generation of technicians. Physical Requirements:
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons, including snow, wind, and cold temperatures
  • Climbs ladders and works at heights as needed for facility repairs
  • Lifts and carries tools, materials, and equipment up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Walks and stands for extended periods across varied and sometimes uneven or icy terrain
  • Operates hand and power tools safely and precisely
  • Shovels snow and performs physically demanding manual labor as conditions require
  • Sees and hears well enough to identify facility issues and safety hazards
