The Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention is seeking a Tuberculosis Epidemiologist. This role focuses on Infectious Diseases in Maine, including surveillance, outbreak investigation, and public health interventions related to tuberculosis and other airborne or contact diseases. Responsibilities include developing surveillance systems, participating in outbreak investigations, providing consultation, and collaborating on public health policies.

Core Responsibilities:

As part of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology team, your duties will include:

  1. Coordinating data collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination to stakeholders.
  2. Investigating active tuberculosis cases.
  3. Collaborating on treatment and contact investigations with Public Health Nursing.
  4. Providing professional consultation to epidemiologists, healthcare partners, and the public.
  5. Monitoring disease trends and emerging threats nationally and internationally.
  6. Improving program operations through collaboration.
  7. Contributing to public health policy initiatives.
  8. Communicating epidemiological information effectively.
  9. Serving as Epidemiologist-On-Call and participating in daily epidemiology meetings.
  10. Managing the state tuberculosis workgroup.
  11. Assisting with grant writing and reporting for tuberculosis programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Epidemiology or a closely related field, or a Bachelor's Degree with two years of professional epidemiology experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for education.

Preferred Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with infectious disease epidemiology, especially tuberculosis.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and extensive database skills.
  • Experience with statistical software (SAS preferred).
  • Ability to draft technical disease information for providers and the public.
  • Experience with clinical laboratory testing or related knowledge.
