Job summary

Agile Defense is seeking an experienced Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support FBI programs under ISSO/ISSE oversight. The ISSE will develop, implement, and sustain categorization for FBI IT systems based on architecture, hosting, security posture, and mission requirements.

The role collaborates with ISSOs, owners, and leadership to ensure compliant, scalable processes. Requirements include a TS clearance, strong security engineering background, and familiarity with NIST, CNSS,

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance required.
• Experience assessing complex systems for security architecture, control implementation, and risk categorization.
• Familiar with FIPS-199, NIST SP 800-37, SP 800-53 and CNSS 1253.
• Experience with on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a methodology to categorize FBI IT systems by architecture, hosting, and security posture.
• Assess system architecture, interfaces, hosting models, and control implications for staffing and funding.
• Analyze traditional, hybrid, and cloud systems to determine security requirements.
• Support RMF and system security engineering activities and documentation.
• Translate system attributes into labor mapping and cost-recovery recommendations.
• Collaborate with ISSOs, program leadership, and owners to ensure repeatable categorizations.
