Job summary

Agile Defense is seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to support the FBI under ISSO/ISSE Program Management. The ISSE will apply security engineering to categorize FBI IT systems and ensure RMF compliance, leveraging NIST CNSS guidance.

You will collaborate with ISSOs, system owners, and leadership to align labor, cost recovery, and staffing with risk-based assessments across on-premises and cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field; equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, ISSE, or information assurance in federal environments.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility to start.

Responsibilities

• Support design and maintenance of a methodology to categorize FBI IT systems based on architecture, security posture, and data sensitivity.
• Assess system architecture, interfaces, hosting models, and security implications for ISSO/ISSE support levels.
• Analyze traditional, hybrid, and cloud-based systems to determine security and labor requirements.
• Translate technical attributes into staffing and cost-recovery labor mappings.
• Collaborate with ISSOs and leadership to ensure repeatable, documented categorization decisions.
• Support RMF processes and documentation for system security engineering activities.
