Job summary

Agile Defense in Washington, DC is seeking a senior ISSE to support FBI efforts, developing and sustaining a methodology to categorize FBI IT systems by architecture, hosting, data sensitivity, and mission function. You will work with ISSOs and leadership to ensure categorization decisions are technically sound and well documented.

The role requires a TS clearance and experience with RMF, NIST standards, and both on‑prem and cloud environments, including Azure/AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Active TS clearance is required.
• Experience with FBI guidance, RMF, NIST SP 800-53, CNSS 1253.
• Experience with on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or hybrid).
• Ability to map findings to staffing, security, and compliance requirements.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support methodology to categorize FBI IT systems by architecture, hosting, data sensitivity, and mission function.
• Assess system architecture, interfaces, hosting models, and security control implications for ISSO/ISSE support levels.
• Analyze traditional, hybrid, and cloud-based systems to define staffing and cost implications.
• Translate system attributes into labor mapping aligned to ITSSS categories and seniority.
• Document categorization decisions and support RMF and system security engineering activities.
• Review FBI, NIST, CNSS guidance to keep the methodology current.
