Job summary

Nightwing is seeking a highly motivated civil engineer with a structural focus for a role based in the Springfield, VA area. The candidate will perform structural analyses, develop designs for steel, concrete, wood, and composites, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support national security missions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, FE/PE/SE credentials or eligibility, and 8+ years of experience (6+ with master's).

Qualifications

• Must have or be eligible for TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph (sponsorship provided)
• FE exam passed and PE/SE registration in progress or achieved
• 8+ years of relevant structural engineering experience (6+ with master's)
• Strong background in structural analysis, codes, materials testing, construction practices
• Experience with CAD software (Autodesk & SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience with RAM, Risa, Tekla, SkyCiv, IDEA StatiCA
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and review designs
• Willingness to travel (<10%) and work in fast-paced multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analyses and generate detailed designs for steel, concrete, wood, and composites
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and electrical teams to deliver solutions
• Review documents and calculations for code compliance and quality
• Develop test plans, coordinate testing, analyze results
• Support project managers with resource coordination and customer communication
• Possess initiative to improve processes and drive project efficiency
