Job summary

Nightwing is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Springfield, VA location to support technology development and mission programs. You will work within a team of mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers to move concepts from idea to prototype, through testing, documentation, and production.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in mechanical engineering with a bachelor’s degree (or 3+ years with advanced degree), hands-on prototyping with motors, actuators, sensors, CAD with SolidWorks and

Qualifications

• Must hold or be willing to obtain TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
• Minimum five years of mechanical engineering experience with a bachelor’s degree.
• Hands-on prototyping and testing experience with motors, actuators and sensors.
• CAD experience with SolidWorks and Revit for design and documentation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel up to 10%.
• Experience with rapid, iterative design and testing cycles.
• Experience with mechanics of materials, statics, dynamics, and heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions from concept through prototype development, testing, documentation, and production.
• Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers to drive program success.
• Create and deliver drawings, coordinate hardware fabrication, and author technical procedures.
• Prepare presentations, field reports, and design reviews for diverse audiences.
• Support the Program Manager with technical, cost, and schedule requirements and help shape future task strategies.
