Base pay range

$80,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Reputable law firm in the East Bay is seeking an experienced trust and estates paralegal in their Oakland office. This role involves handling trust administrations, court-supervised probate matters, and drafting comprehensive estate plans. The ideal candidate will manage probate proceedings from initiation through final distribution.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of attorneys, this position supports estate planning, trust and probate administration, and related legal processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and assist with estate planning and trust administration documents
  • Review and organize financial records; identify and categorize assets
  • Support probate court filings (e.g., Heggstad and Probate Code §850 petitions)
  • Communicate with clients and advisors; assist with trust funding and deed preparation
  • Prepare federal estate tax returns and maintain client files
  • Calendar and track deadlines and court notices
  • Perform additional administrative and legal support as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required
  • 5+ years’ experience in probate/trust administration preferred
  • Knowledge of California probate procedures and court filings
  • Proficient in Office 365, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with tax preparation software a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Must work onsite 5 days/week for the first 90 days, then hybrid (3 days/week in office)
  • CA Notary commission is a plus
