Job Description

Seeking an experienced Contract Paralegal to join our growing boutique law firm in Newport Beach, CA. The ideal candidate will provide compassionate legal services specializing in Trust Administrations, First Party Special Needs Planning, Conservatorships, and/or Probate. This remote role requires expertise in one or more of these areas and meeting the specified qualifications.

Compensation: $25 - $40 hourly, DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Handling trust administration – decedent’s estate matters from beginning to end, including preparing mandatory notices and deeds
  • Preparing and filing Conservatorship and/or Probate Petitions
  • Preparing Fiduciary’s Report and Account
  • Drafting Petitions and pleadings
  • Filing documents with the Court, including e-filing
  • Recording deeds via Simplifile and directly with County Recorder Offices
  • Preparing Judicial Council Forms
  • Communicating with clients and ancillary individuals to obtain information and provide updates
  • Corresponding with the Court, including clerks and probate examiners
  • Checking Probate notes and preparing Supplements to respond
  • Understanding California Rules of Court and Local Court Rules for Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties

Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification or qualification under California Business & Professions Code 6450
  • Strong computer skills, extensive experience with MS Office, timekeeping, and remote video software like Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • Character with compassion, intelligence, and grit
  • Experience in Trust Administrations, Decedent’s Estates, Special Needs Planning, Conservatorships, or Probate
  • Ability to manage cases from start to finish with minimal supervision
