Job summary

Fieldstone A&E is seeking a SWAT Truss Designer I to collaborate with clients and manufacturers to create floor and roof truss layouts and design profiles for residential and commercial projects. You will interpret blueprints and meet client requirements while supporting urgent client needs through the SWAT system.

The role requires strong reading of architectural drawings, knowledge of truss products, and solid CAD/drafting fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of truss products and connectors to determine structural applications.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.
• General CAD and drafting knowledge, engineering fundamentals, and local codes related to truss design.
• Strong mathematical abilities, including tributary loads and load transfer.
• Experience with residential and commercial structures.
• Development of construction documents and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Design residential roof and floor truss systems from architectural documents using Truss software.
• Produce truss component designs for shop fabrication.
• Maintain project files according to Fieldstone's filing procedures.
• Track daily progress and meet productivity goals.
• Determine design specifications based on blueprints and engineering needs.
• Resolve design discrepancies using critical thinking.
• Communicate technical details with clients, architects, or engineers.
• Collaborate with job-site supervisors to address field issues.
• Manage RFIs and submittals; assist with permit rejections as needed.
• Uphold Fieldstone's quality control procedures and standards.
