Job summary

The Salvation Army in Mississippi is seeking a part-time Donations Loader/Driver Assistant. This role collaborates with the Truck Driver to pick up donations, loads items weighing 25–50 lbs, and ensures safe and orderly transfer to the warehouse.

You will interact with donors, prepare receipts, and maintain vehicle condition per policy. A valid driver’s license is required; six months of lifting/heavy item experience is preferred. No formal education required; PT schedule is 27.5 hours/week.

Qualifications

• Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture.
• Valid Driver’s License and eligible driver status under TSA Driver Program.
• No formal education required.

Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route to pick up donated items.
• Lifts, carries, and hauls donations into the truck and unloads at the warehouse.
• Prepares donation receipts and ensures accuracy.
• Maintains good donor relations and ensures safety and policy compliance.
• Unloads donations at the warehouse and distributes items appropriately.

Schedule/Hours: Part-time - 27.5 hours per weekThis position is responsible for:Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standardsKey Responsibilities:Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Manual dexterity. Ability to sit, walk, and stand on a frequent change basis in order to perform the duties of this position. Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
