Job summary

The Salvation Army in Conway, AR is seeking a Truck Driver to pick up donations and deliver merchandise on scheduled routes. You will operate a heavy-duty truck, assist in loading, and ensure safety and accountability of vehicle and donations throughout shipments.

The role includes coordinating routes for efficiency, preparing donation receipts, and helping in the warehouse and thrift store operations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• 1 year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or equivalent training/experience.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise.
• Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel.
• Assists in unloading the truck at the warehouse and in loading donations.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers and maintains accuracy of records.
• Maintains safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations.
• Assists in warehouse work and thrift store operations as needed.

Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations; lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times; assists in performing work in the thrift store and warehouseEssential FunctionsThis job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description.Truck Driving (90%)Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.Organizes scheduled pick-ups by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption.Assists Truck Helper in lifting and stacking donations in the truck.Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.Assists Truck Helper in unloading the truck at the warehouse.Delivers appliances and/or furniture as requested by customers.Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations.Warehouse Work (10%)Assists in loading the bail truck.Assists in cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and loading dock area.Assists in working in all areas of the Family Store operations as needed.Performs special projects as needed.Performs other related work as required.Education and ExperienceKnowledge, Skills High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required, and one year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities:Certifications/LicensesValid drivers license
