Truck Driving Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Madera Community College

Overview

Part‑time faculty positions are established to serve Madera Community College’s diverse student population. The instructor will teach Truck Driving courses on campus and at off‑site community campus locations, using a range of instructional modalities, including face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.

Essential Functions

• Teach Truck Driving courses as assigned on a part‑time schedule.
• Use a variety of pedagogies and technology for face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid delivery.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Adhere to the approved curriculum, course outlines, and institutional standards.
• Assess student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, and oral responses.
• Provide course syllabi and maintain classroom records per district policy.
• Submit grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors per Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to the diverse backgrounds of community college students.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of directly related professional experience; or
• Associate degree and six years of directly related professional experience; or
• A valid California Community College credential; or
• Experience or education equivalent to the above (requiring equivalency).

Part‑time Truck Driving instructors must maintain a commercial driver’s license and participate in the District’s Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing program.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience incorporating equity, diversity, and inclusion into all responsibilities.
• Recent experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion.
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices for better engagement of minoritized students.
• Evidence of working with traditionally under‑represented student populations, including students of color, foster youth, and students with disabilities.
• Ability to facilitate multicultural communication and support under‑prepared, high‑needs students.
• Collaborative skill with faculty and staff to enhance instruction and student success.
• Computer and technology proficiency for instructional delivery and student support.
• Effective communication skills with students and staff.
• Knowledge of assessment methods and the community college mission and goals.

Salary and Benefits

• Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification is based on education and experience per the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
• Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.

Selection Procedure

Applications will be considered continuously. If selected, the hiring department will contact the applicant for an interview. The position has no closing date. The applicant remains in the pool for 18 months unless withdrawn.
