Job description

Business Administration Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)

Location: Madera Community College at Oakhurst

Mandatory start date: as assigned by the department.

Core Responsibilities

• Teach a part-time schedule of Business Administration courses on the Madera Community College at Oakhurst Campus and/or at off‑site community campus locations, using a variety of pedagogies and delivering content in face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
• Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
• Use effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhere to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines.
• Assess student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses in alignment with course objectives.
• Provide course syllabi, maintain classroom records in accordance with district policy, and submit all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
• Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities of an instructor as specified in Administrative Regulation 7122.
• Engage in culturally responsive teaching practices and support inclusive learning environments.
• Participate in professional development that enhances ability to serve a diverse student population.

Minimum Qualifications

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, including socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic factors.
• Master’s degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education; OR Bachelor’s degree in one of the above fields plus a Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or a Juris Doctor/Legum Baccalaureus; OR Bachelor’s degree in economics with a business emphasis plus a Master’s in personnel management, public administration, or a Juris Doctor/Legum Baccalaureus; OR A valid California Community College Credential; OR Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into teaching and departmental activities.
• Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, or other racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns.
• Willingness to examine and remake instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage minoritized students.
• Background in multicultural and cross‑cultural communication.
• Experience working with students from varied socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
• Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials and of the community college mission and goals.
• Basic computer and technology literacy for high‑quality instruction.

Salary and Benefits

• Newly hired part‑time faculty will be placed on Step 1 of the Part‑time Faculty Salary Schedule.
• Salary classification placement is based on education and experience.
• Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
