Job summary

Mountain Cement Company in Wyoming is seeking an experienced Truck Driver to support the launch of our state-of-the-art cement plant. You will oversee daily over-the-road haul operations, perform pre-shift inspections, and work with the plant team to maintain safety, reliability, and efficiency.

This role requires a CDL-B with Tanker endorsement, DOT certification, and prior tractor-trailer experience; strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow directions and policies are essential.

Qualifications

  • Two years verifiable tractor-trailer experience preferred.
  • Must have a current Commercial Drivers License (CDL-B with Tanker Endorsement Required. CDL-A Preferred).
  • Must be DOT certified.
  • Good mechanical background and ability to assist mechanics in servicing or repair of vehicle required
  • Experience operating heavy equipment preferred
  • Must be able to take and give direction.
  • Must be able to complete job assignments without constant supervision.
  • Must have good attendance and safety record.
  • Must abide by all Mountain Cement Company safety rules and operating guidelines, and be familiar with MSHA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-shift inspection of every piece of mobile equipment before operation.
  • Complete pre-shift inspection sheet for mobile equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections of working areas at least once per shift.
  • Address safety defects and tag out until repairs are completed.
  • Report and correct issues; inform supervisor if unable to repair.
  • Check lubrication, coolant, and fuel levels; add as needed.
  • Maintain cab cleanliness and daily housekeeping of equipment.
  • Operate equipment only after proper task training per MSHA.

Overview: Truck Drivers are responsible for the daily operations of over-the road haul trucks transporting raw materials from quarry areas to the plant, while complying with all applicable DOT, mining regulations, and Mountain Cement company policies at all times. Truck drivers also operate trucks in the plant area and assist with other plant operations as required by the direction of their supervisor.. Basic qualifications and/or traits that the Truck Driver must possess include:

  • Two years verifiable experience with tractor-trailer operations preferred.

Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a Truck Driver include, but are not limited to:

  • Truck Drivers as required by DOT, MCC policies, and state/federal mining regulations must perform a pre-shift inspection of every piece of mobile equipment before it is put into operation. Examinations must be completed; cursory inspections are not adequate.
  • MCC policy requires that a pre-shift inspection sheet is completed for every piece of mobile equipment that undergoes a pre-shift examination.
  • Pre-Shift examinations must be performed by the equipment operator for all mobile equipment. This includes mobile equipment that tends to be operated for a short period of time; i.e. front end loaders, etc.
  • Equipment with identified safety defects that will endanger the equipment operator or others will not be operated until repairs are performed. Mobile equipment with safety defects will be tagged out of service until repairs are completed.
  • Safety inspections of all working areas shall be performed a minimum of once per shift as required by federal mining regulations. Additional inspections may be required as conditions warrant.
  • Workplace examinations must be performed to ensure that the employee and his/her fellow workers have a safe place to work. Workplace examinations must be performed completely; cursory examinations are not adequate.
  • The Truck Driver is responsible for addressing and taking corrective actions when capable.
  • If the employee is not capable of repairing an identified deficiency, the employee's supervisor should be informed immediately so that MCC can initiate action to correct the deficient condition.
  • Performance of corrective actions shall be conducted in compliance with all applicable federal/state regulations and company policies at times.
  • The Truck Driver is responsible for personally performing complete inspections of assigned work areas and mobile equipment to check for any operational and/or mechanical problems with equipment. All identified problems must be reported to the Truck Shop Supervisor or Quarry Supervisor.
  • The Truck Driver is responsible for checking the lubrication, coolant, and fuel levels of all machinery/mobile equipment that the employee operates and adding lubricant, coolant, and fuel when necessary.
  • The Truck Driver is responsible for adding the proper lubricant (i.e. winter grease in winter, summer grease in summer).
  • Housekeeping of the equipment cabs is a responsibility of the Truck Driver. Clean out the equipment cab by the Truck Driver is to be performed daily.
  • Clean-up activities are to be performed daily, not left for other MCC personnel.
  • Loose items must contained within the cab.
  • Performance of housekeeping actives should be consistent between all personnel.
  • Truck Drivers may be required to operate various pieces of mobile equipment. Proper task training and safe operation guidelines will be adhered to at all times. Employees will not operate any piece of equipment without being properly task trained as required by MSHA regulations.

Physical Requirements: The Truck Driver position is safety sensitive. The physical requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Working 8 hour - 12 hour shifts
  • Working in areas of heat, cold, muddy, icy, or dusty conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Subject to twisting, bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.

Education

  • High school diploma of equivalent.
