Job summary

Joyce Steel Erection, Ltd. is seeking a CDL-A driver to deliver crane parts and equipment to job sites. You will assist with assembly/disassembly under the crane operator and ensure safe operations, load handling, and on-site housekeeping.

Candidate must pass a DOT physical, drug/alcohol screen, and background check; flexible schedule with travel is required. Equal opportunity employer; accommodations available upon request.

Qualifications

• Must pass a DOT physical, drug and alcohol screen, and a 7-year background check.
• Basic mechanical skills are required.
• Flexible schedule with travel; operations run 24/7.
• Must have a valid Class A CDL and a clean driving record.
• Must follow directions from supervision and crane operator.

Responsibilities

• Drive a vehicle with capacity greater than 26,000 GVW; pick up or deliver goods, packages or equipment.
• Load or unload contents of the vehicle as required.
• Aid in assembly/disassembly under supervision of crane operator.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping on job site and mobile equipment.
• Report road incidents to safety; follow traffic laws; maintain active log and hours.

• BE ABLE TO PASS A DOT PHYSICAL, DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREEN, AND 7 YEAR BACKGROUND CHECK
• HAVE BASIC MECHANICAL SKILLS
• MUST HAVE A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE, AND ALBE TO TRAVEL AND WORK ALL DAYS AND TIMES. THE COMPANY OPERATES 24 HOURS A DAY, 7 DAYS A WEEK.
• MUST FOLLOW DIRECTION FROM SUPERVISION
• MUST FOLLOW DIRECTION FROM CRANE OPERATOR
• AID IN ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY UNDER SUPERVISION OF CRANE OPERATOR
• HAVE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF CRANE AND RIGGING CONSIDERATIONS (HITCHES, SHACKLES, LOAD ANGLES, LOAD WEIGHTS, CENTER OF GRAVITY, TAG LINE, ETC.)
• MUST BE ABLE TOBE ASSIGNED THE DESIGNATED SIGNALMAN TO HELP THE CRANE OPERATOR ATTACH, LIFT, MOVE, AND SET LOADS.
• MUST HAVE A VALID CLASS A CDL DRIVERS LICENSE, AND KEEP IT UP TO DATE
• AID IN CLEANLINESS AND HOUSEKEEPING ON JOB SITE AND MOBILE EQUIPMENT
• MUST HAVE BASIC KKNOWLEDGE OF ASSEMBLY/DISASSEMBLY OF CRANE AND ALL COMPONENTS
• ATTACH LOAD LIFTING DEVICES TO CRANE AND TO LOAD IN A SAFE MANNER
• ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ALL INVOLVED BY UTILIZING SAFE PRACTICES
• MUST BE ABLE TO INSPECT PRE-TRIP ITEMS ON TRUCK AND TRAILER
• PERFORMING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
• WEARING REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT WHILE PERFORMING WORK
• MENTOR OTHER DRIVERS, CRANE HELPERS, ETC.
• DRIVE LONG DISTANCES TO DELIVER CRANE PARTS TO JOB SITE ON TIME
• LOAD AND UNLOAD CARGO
• REFUEL AND CLEAN VEHICLE
• REPORT ROAD INCIDENTS TO SAFETY
• FOLLOW TRAFFIC LAWS
• INSPECT TRUCK AND RECORD ISSUES
• FOLLOW ACCIDENT PROCEDURES
• KEEP AN ACTIVE LOG AND LOG HOURS
• REPORT MECHANICAL PROBLEMS TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
• PLAN ROUTES USING GPS SYSTEM
• MAINTAIN POSITIVE ATTITIUDE WITH CUSTOMERS
• HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD
