Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a donor transportation assistant to drive trucks and assist with donation logistics. You will pick up and drop off furniture and goods, operate a forklift and baler, and help move donations to stores and the warehouse.

You must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads, with a valid license and clean driving record. Responsibilities include maintaining vehicle cleanliness, reporting maintenance needs, and building good relations with store staff and customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive Salvation Army vehicles to pick up and deliver donations to stores.

• Report maintenance needs to Production Supervisor.

Job description

Drive The Salvation Army's vehicles to pick up and deliver donations of furniture, clothing and any other items to The Salvation Army stores. Directions will be given by The Production Manager. Provides assistance as needed and directed by the Production Manager to Store operations. Will be driving forklift, running baler and cycling of merchandise . Will assist managers with donations and items to be returned to the warehouse (other stores. Responsible for vehicles cleanliness and checking fluid levers at the start of day. Check tightness of belts and tire pressure each morning. Trucks washed monthly and swept each day. Reports any maintenance needs of vehicle to Production Supervisor. Maintains good relationship with customers and store employees. Lifts, carries and hauls donations into truck, unloads donations from truck upon arrival at stores.High School or GED preferred but not requiredOne year experience driving a heavy duty truck or large van or equivalent combination of training and experience with provides the required knowledge and abilities.Ability to communicate effectively orallyBe physically fit, heavy lifting requiredMUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED AND ABILITY TO PASS MVR AND BACKGROUND
