Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field, or in process of obtaining.
  • Two-year Associate’s Degree in Education or Human Services.
  • One year experience in program planning and administrative management preferred.
  • One year of supervisor experience preferred.
  • Two years experience in planning and offering services to American Indian children and families is preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act and the Indian Child Welfare Act preferred.
  • Native American preference.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, criminal, and Social Services background checks are required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning, problem solving, and implementation of program services with management.
  • Prepare reports on local program activities and share with staff and management.
  • Review budget forecasts and be familiar with financial needs for services.
  • Become knowledgeable of tribal codes relating to juvenile services.
  • Work with Legal Department regarding truancy matters.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, county staff, schools and community partners.
  • Advocate for families to receive services from agencies.
  • Provide ongoing advocacy and support for students in school and court.
  • Coordinate schedules with school and court personnel for truancy hearings.
  • Prepare weekly written progress reports for truancy personnel.
  • Collaborate with programs to plan youth activities and truancy incentives.
  • Maintain client records in SSIS.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings and provide orientation for new employees.
  • Meet deadlines and prioritize workload; attend activities outside normal hours as needed.
  • Provide face-to-face client contact and submit billing for contacts.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and trainings; support Native American culture and ethics.
  • Travel in and out of state as needed; maintain confidentiality.
