Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe in Cass Lake, MN is seeking a Truancy Program Administrator to implement and advance truancy prevention within the Child Welfare Department. The role focuses on reducing truancy among local students and coordinating with schools, courts, and tribal entities.

Summary: Responsible for the implementation and development of a Truancy Program for the Leech Lake Child Welfare Department. The goal is to prevent and reduce truancy of Leech Lake children and youth attending area schools.
Education Requirements and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or other related field, or in the process of obtaining.
Minimum requirement of a two-year Associate’s Degree in Education or Human Services.
One year experience in program planning and administrative management preferred.
One year of supervisor experience preferred.
Two years experience in planning and offering services to American Indian children and families is preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
Additional Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of the Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act and the Indian Child Welfare Act, preferred.
Native American preference.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug test, criminal, and Social Services background checks are required.
Pre-employment drug testing is mandatory for all Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe positions.
Supervisory Duties:
Direct supervision of Truancy Case Managers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Participate in planning, problem solving, and implementation of program services, working closely with management to ensure effective delivery of services.
Prepare reports on local program activities, share with program staff and management as needed.
Review budget forecasts and be familiar with financial needs for services offered.
Become knowledgeable of the Leech Lake Tribal Codes relating to services surrounding juvenile matters.
Work closely with the Legal Department pertaining to Truancy.
Maintain a respectful working relationship with colleagues, Leech Lake Reservation Program employees, county Human Services staff, local school personnel, and other community shareholders.
Identify resources and advocate for families to receive services from agencies that may assist in resolving truancy.
Provide ongoing advocacy and support for students in school and in court.
Coordinate schedules with school and court personnel regarding attendance at truancy hearings.
Prepare a weekly written report to school truancy personnel to inform them of students’ progress made and/or status of court orders.
Collaborate with other programs to facilitate youth group activities and plan for truancy improvement incentives.
Maintain client records through State Reporting System (SSIS).
Facilitate staff meetings on a regular basis.
Provide internal orientation and mentoring opportunities for new employees.
Meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
Attend program activities outside normal work hours as necessary.
Provide face-to-face contact with clients.
Submit billing for those contacts.
Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
Support and maintain sensitivity to Native American culture, lifestyles, and values.
Travel in and out of state as needed.
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Work effectively with minimal supervision.
Adhere to all applicable data privacy laws.
All other related duties as assigned.
