Job summary

Union College in Schenectady, NY seeks an On Call Trolley Driver to transport students, staff and community members to College-approved locations, following safety protocols. This is a temporary, non-exempt, part-time role with variable hours.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, providing trip information to dispatch, maintaining schedules, reporting safety concerns and incidents. A valid NYS CDL Class B with P endorsement and 2+ years of driving experience are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License, minimum class B with P endorsement.
• At least 2 years of transportation driving experience.
• Strong communications skills for working with a diverse group of college Faculty, Staff and Students.
• Drivers are subject to CDL standards and random drug/alcohol testing as mandated by 49 CFR 382 & 49 CFR 40.
• Physical requirements: Sit for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and assist passengers as needed.

• All drivers are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as mandated by citations “49 CFR 382” & “49 CFR 40”

• Physical requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle. Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 25 pounds as needed. Ability to enter and exit the vehicle frequently and assist passengers as necessary.

Compensation:

The expected rate for this position is $19.00 per hour. Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
