LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Trique Interpreter to provide telephone interpretation services remotely.

Position Overview

The Trique Telephone Interpreter is responsible for handling calls on demand and rendering the meaning of conversations between Trique and English speakers across a wide range of industries including healthcare, government, insurance, finance, utilities, travel and hospitality, general business, law enforcement, court, and 911.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to interpreting sessions and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol, avoiding omissions or additions.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout all sessions, remaining calm even when speakers are incoherent or upset.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions in compliance with protocol and avoid interacting with the LEP without client permission.
• Understand industry terminology and protocols for medical, insurance, finance, and law sectors.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a diverse environment.
• Remain on calls that may involve sensitive subjects such as end‑of‑life discussions, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, or matters related to sexual orientation and/or gender expression.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Trique and English with strong cultural competency skills.
• Ability to assess regional and accent differences and find effective ways to communicate with the LEP.
• Excellent listening, retention and note‑taking skills to maintain high accuracy.
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached, remain neutral and objective at all times.
• Education or work experience in language‑related fields such as teaching, language assessment, translation or interpretation preferred.
• Minimum age of 18 years and legal authorization to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical Requirements

• Dedicated personal device (desktop or laptop) with Windows, MacOS, or ChromeOS.
• Acceptable tablets (iPadOS or Android) or smartphones (iOS or Android).
• High‑speed internet with download ≥5Mbps, upload ≥3Mbps, ping ≤300ms, jitter ≤30ms.
• Quiet workspace free of background noise or distraction.

Physical Requirements

• Operate a keyboard and mouse while maintaining a stationary position for most of the workday.
• Operate company‑provided software and systems.
• Manual dexterity to type or write, lift up to 26lb, and tolerate moderate noise levels.
