Job summary

Volunteer State Community College is seeking a Manager of TRIO Student Support Services to oversee the federally funded SSS grant, guide program development, and ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations.

This role leads staff, manages budgets, and coordinates services such as academic advising, tutoring, financial literacy, and college transfer planning. The position emphasizes data-driven evaluation, APR reporting, and continuous program improvement.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a related field and at least five years counseling/education support experience.
• At least three years of administrative experience including supervision of staff.
• Experience with federal grant regulations and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the TRIO SSS program.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate program staff, tutors, mentors, and work-study students.
• Oversee the recruitment and retention of eligible participants in compliance with federal criteria.
• Ensure delivery of comprehensive support services: academic advising, tutoring, financial literacy, career planning, transfer preparation, and personal development resources.
• Develop partnerships across campus to enhance services and resource accessibility.
• Manage the program budget and ensure grant compliance per US ED guidelines.
• Monitor effectiveness with data and reporting; prepare APR and align with performance objectives.
• Lead continuous program improvement efforts.
