Job summary

Cleveland Community College is seeking an TRIO SSS Assistant Director to support the Project Director and provide individualized academic, career, and personal guidance for TRIO SSS participants. This multi-year grant-funded role requires day, evening, and some weekend hours and travel.

The position includes supervising the TRIO SSS Advisor and PT Assistant, coordinating workshops, and promoting services across campus to support student success and graduation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Three or more years of experience in Student Affairs or Higher Education preferred, especially with first generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic, personal, financial, and career guidance to TRIO SSS students.
• Explain policies, procedures, and program requirements of the chosen program of study.
• Advise and counsel students in planning and selecting courses for future semesters toward graduation.
• Assist with registration; verify student prerequisites and requirements.
• Act as a liaison for tutoring, academic concerns, and personal counseling needs.
• Maintain confidential records and data on advising and counseling activities and student information.
• Consult with students regarding academic problems or concerns and assist in obtaining support to meet specific needs.
• Understand objectives and regulations of TRIO SSS federal grant and assist in data-keeping for APR, compliance and programming guidance.
• Supervise TRIO SSS Advisor and PT Assistant.
• Coordinate, promote, and facilitate workshops and related activities for student development.
• Assist in coordinating programming including graduation, enrichment, transfers, and events.
• Publicize services and activities of the TRIO SSS program and the College.
• Collaborate with SGA and other organizations to promote student activities.
• Update information for students via social media, TRIO SSS Webpage, and newsletters.
• Attend professional conferences for development and stay current on counseling trends.
• Act as a team member to accomplish grant goals and philosophy.
