Davey Tree Surgery Co. in Richmond, VA is hiring a utility line clearance Trimmer. The office is outdoors and you will climb and prune trees for electric utility providers, using various climbing systems and operating chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.

The role requires a valid driver’s license and line clearance experience. CDL-A/B with airbrake is preferred. Training and safety programs are provided by Davey as part of ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED: valid driver’s license
• REQUIRED: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• PREFERRED: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• PREFERRED: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Prune treetops and remove damaged trees for major electric utility providers
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs and other structures
• Identify tree species and follow industry pruning guidelines
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts)
• Work as part of a crew with ground crew and foreperson
• Grow your skill and responsibility with experience

Position Overview

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is pleased to offer a key opportunity in the field of Utility Line Clearance as a Trimmer.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• REQUIRED: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• REQUIRED: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
