Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking a Tiromat operator to maintain a steady supply of cooked potatoes for the production line at our facility. The role emphasizes strict adherence to food safety, GMPs, and safety policies to minimize variability and ensure product quality.

You will handle baskets, monitor sanitation, and communicate effectively with the shift team. A High school diploma or GED and a Food Handler’s Permit are required to perform these duties in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Food Handler’s Permit from Clark County Health Department.

Responsibilities

• Empty baskets of cooked potatoes into the stainless steel hopper feeding into tiromat.
• Follow GMPs related to food handling.
• Move empty baskets onto basket wash conveyor for sanitizing.
• Ensure potatoes are not contaminated by frequent use of hand dip stations.
• Assist with cleanup at end of production shift.
• Visually inspect potatoes to ensure correct product is on packaging line.
• Communicate relevant information to fellow employees on the shift.
• Adhere to safety and GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and report safety/quality concerns.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for keeping the tiromat equipment adequately supplied with cooked potatoes at all times.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for emptying baskets of cooked potatoes into the stainless steel hopper feeding into tiromat.
• Follows all good manufacturing practices (GMP’s) related to food handling.
• Moves empty baskets onto basket wash conveyor for sanitizing.
• Ensures that potatoes are not contaminated by frequent use of hand dip stations in accordance GMP’s.
• Assists with clean up at the end of the production shift.
• Visually inspects potatoes to ensure correct product is on packaging line.
• Effectively communicate relevant information to fellow employees on the shift.
• Adhere to safe work practices, all safety policies and procedures, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
• Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
• Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

Experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The pay range for this position is $15.50 to $17.25 per hour.
