Wolf Tree, Inc. is seeking a dynamic utility tree trimmer to join our outdoor-focused team in Bristol, VA. You will work with a crew to prune and remove trees for major electric utilities, using climbing systems like DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS to access treetops safely.

This role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to complete required safety certifications upon hire. We offer paid time off, holidays, and a strong employee-owned culture with advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work environment with safety-focused culture.
• Must complete Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program on hire.
• Must complete First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A or B with Airbrake preferred.
• Line clearance experience or related tree work preferred.
• Relevant pesticide licenses/certificates may be required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and perform pruning/removal for major electric utility providers using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS systems.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal; remove branches from lines, roofs, and other structures.
• Identify trees and apply pruning guidelines; maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as a crew member with ground crew and foreperson; contribute to safe, efficient job completion.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
