Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility tree trimmer to join our outdoor work crew. You will climb trees using multiple climbing systems and perform pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.

The role offers on-site work with safety training provided by Davey and opportunities for advancement. You will need a valid driver’s license, and a CDL-A/B is preferred. Prior line clearance experience or related tree work is a plus, and state-specific pesticide licenses may be

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license
• Line clearance experience or related tree work preferred
• Complete Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses upon hire
• Commercial Driver’s License (A or B) with Airbrake Endorsement preferred by state law

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal for major electric utilities safely and skillfully.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs; remove broken limbs from lines, roofs and other objects.
• Identify trees and apply industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc.).
• Work as an active crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
• Growth opportunities depend on performance and initiative.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
