Job summary

MDU Construction Services Group, Inc is seeking a Field Layout Technician to proficiently operate Trimble robotic total stations and layout tools on active jobsites in Raleigh, NC. You will transfer BIM/CAD coordinates to the field for precise MEP layout and collaborate with project teams to ensure accuracy and safety.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of hands-on Trimble experience, a high school diploma or GED, and OSHA 10/30 certification or willingness to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2 years' experience with hands-on operations of Trimble robotic total stations and/Trimble layout tools in a construction environment.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification or willingness to get it

Responsibilities

• Operate Trimble robotic total station and field layout tools to establish control points, set layout points, and verify as-built conditions on active jobsites.
• Perform point layout for MEP hangers, supports, sleeves, penetrations, embeds, anchors, and equipment pads.
• Coordinate with project managers, foremen, BIM/VDC coordinators, and trade partners to ensure layout accuracy and resolve conflicts.
• Maintain, calibrate, and care for Trimble instruments, accessories, and related equipment.
• Document completed layout work, prepare field reports, and communicate deviations or RFIs as needed
• Train and mentor field personnel on basic layout tool operation and best practices.
• Follow all site safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations
• Work with tools as needed or required
