Job summary

The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) seeks an Intergovernmental Liaison - Tribal and ICWA Liaison to lead tribal relations and ICWA implementation. This role builds partnerships with Tribal governments, oversees agreements, and guides compliance monitoring and reporting, including supervision of the QEW.

The position oversees tribal relations functions, negotiates agreements, and coordinates with Tribes, DCS staff, and partner organizations statewide to improve services for Indian

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ICWA, tribal law, and child welfare policy.
  • Experience with intergovernmental agreements and tribal consultations.
  • Ability to supervise staff and manage partnerships with Tribes and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Department in Tribal relations and ICWA policy activities.
  • Provide technical assistance and training on Tribal consultation to staff and Tribes.
  • Supervise Tribal Relations staff and manage intergovernmental agreements.
  • Negotiate Tribal/state child welfare agreements and funding mechanisms.
  • Prepare internal and external reports including annual Tribal Consultation Report.
  • Other duties as assigned related to Tribal and ICWA liaison work.
