Job summary

Pueblo of San Felipe in New Mexico seeks an experienced ICWA program manager within Family Services to protect children, oversee Indian Child Welfare, and coordinate with CYFD, state courts, and tribal partners. The role manages ICWA/CARA notices, verifies membership, and ensures compliance with federal and state laws.

Required knowledge includes ICWA, IFPA, NM Children’s Code; certifications such as QEW and Victim Advocacy are preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: HS Diploma or equivalent preferred; AA in Social Services or equivalent; BSW desirable.
• 3+ years in human services or related field; 3+ years working with a tribe or tribal organization.
• Experience with ICWA, IFPA and NM Children’s Code; interpret related laws and regulations.
• Valid driver license and QEW, Victim Advocacy certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer the Indian Child Welfare Program to prevent removal of San Felipe children from their families.
• Respond to ICWA notices and coordinate with state courts, CYFD, and tribal partners.
• Case manage ICWA and CARA notices; verify membership and intervene as needed.
• Coordinate with CYFD, State Courts, and tribes to ensure compliance with ICWA/IFPA.
• Maintain records and reports for ICWA, CARA, and child welfare cases.
• Attend hearings as tribal ICWA representative and testify as required.
