Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve in Glen Jean, WV seeks a dedicated staff member to greet trek guests, share information about evening programs, dining and store hours, and help run trek camp activities. The role includes daily check-in/out oversight and producing an end-of-season report with area improvements.

Candidates should be 18+, have basic computer skills, a valid driver's license, and be comfortable using Microsoft Teams.

Qualifications

• General computer skills (Excel, Word)
• Valid driver license and ability to obtain Summit Driving Permit
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (background screening)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work communication

Responsibilities

• Greet trek guests on arrival and provide information
• Facilitate evening activities in trek camp
• Oversee daily check-in/check-out and verification for whitewater
• Write an end-of-season report with improvements for your area
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe work area
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
• Perform additional duties as assigned by SBR leadership

Job description

Position Overview

• Greet SBR trek guests as they arrive
• Provide information about Summit evening program, dining hall hours, store hours, etc.
• Facilitate evening activities in trek camp
• Oversee the daily check-in, departure, and verification of trek guests for whitewater
• Write an end-of-season report to include operational improvements for your area
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 18+
• General computer skills (Excel, Word, software navigation)
• Valid driver license and ability to obtain a Summit Driving Permit
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and hike and up to 10 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45 - 55
