Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is seeking a Trimmer/Climber Foreperson in Mount Vernon, IL to lead daily crew operations, enforce safety protocols, and coordinate with management on hiring needs and deadlines. The role emphasizes field training, performance oversight, and quality customer service.

The Foreperson will conduct safety training, manage records, control costs, and ensure compliance with DOT requirements while guiding crews through tasks and addressing on-site issues.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age or older.
• Understanding drawings and symbols for lines and equipment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Able to work independently without close supervision.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
• Weight restrictions per job equipment limits apply.
• Willing to pay union dues.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily crew work after orders from General Foreperson/Supervisor.
• Conducts field training and retraining for crew on new/updated tasks.
• Enforces safe work practices per policy and OSHA standards; conducts safety training.
• Discusses access and work scope with property owners; refers complex cases to supervisor.
• Obtains necessary permissions from property owners to perform work.
• Maintains customer relations through effective work completion and professional conduct.
• May investigate minor damage claims and report incidents.
• Keeps accurate crew records, timesheets, and reports.
• Controls crew costs and optimizes use of people, methods, and equipment.
• Provides orders completed reports to foreperson and utility reps.
• Furnishes periodic incident and equipment reports.
• Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking areas.
• Sets up barriers and safety signs to protect workers and public.
• Inspects tools and equipment and arranges for repairs.
• Maintains truck and work-site housekeeping.
• Ensures DOT maintenance and inspection compliance on vehicles.
• Keeps informed on equipment, procedures, and company policies.
• Performs Trimmer/Climber tasks as required.
