Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC in Hurricane, WV is hiring entry-level and skilled trimmers and climbers for outdoor line clearance work. On-the-job training is provided, and the role offers a real career path in utility vegetation management.

You will trim, prune, and remove branches to maintain clearance around power lines, operate various tools, work in all weather, and join a crew with strong safety and customer-service focus.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
• Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders at various heights.
• Ability to obtain the knowledge to identify tree and shrub species.
• No fear of heights.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination.
• Willing to work long hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Trims and/or removes trees by climbing with ladder, safety belt, climbing line, or from ground using saws and pruners.
• Uses wedges, sledges, and chainsaws in felling trees or trimming trunks and cutting logs.
• Operate and service required tools/equipment.
• Plan, assign, direct, check, and coordinate work.
• Obtain permission from property owners to trim or remove trees. Coordinate access and notify of interruptions.
• Promote good customer relations and maintain safety around work areas.
• Load/unload trucks and feed debris into a woodchipper.
• Operate bucket near energized lines as required.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
