Job summary

The Woodlands Township is seeking a Forestry Specialist - Inspections to perform routine site inspections of hazardous and unhealthy trees in The Woodlands, TX. You will assign work to crews or vendors and help with data collection and auditing contractor work and invoices.

Key duties include inspecting 2,000 work orders annually, conducting Level 2 and Level 3 inspections, and creating preventive maintenance schedules for high-risk sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in urban forestry or related field or equivalent.
• Three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must possess a Texas driver’s license within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
• Must possess or obtain within the first year of employment, ISA Certified Arborist license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Inspect 2,000 work orders annually (75% of workload).
• Inspect 10 work orders per day.
• Perform Level 2 and Level 3 inspections using advanced tools as needed.
• Create a PM schedule for trees/sites needing frequent monitoring.
• Perform Tree Risk Assessments for trees the Township will not remove.
• Serve as an expert witness in legal matters.
• Inspect Reforestation work orders for viability and estimates.
• Assist with Reforestation data entry on work orders, spreadsheets and maps.
• Assist with flagging tree locations at designated sites.
• Perform invoice audits to ensure contract specifications are met.
• Inspect Vine Maintenance work orders for viability.
• Assist with Vine Maintenance data entry on work orders, spreadsheets and maps.
• Assist with Township events and special projects.
• Inspect assigned work truck weekly for preventative maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
