Job summary

The Woodlands Township is seeking a Streetscapes/Forestry crew member to perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance of streetscapes, parks, and community grounds. The role includes operating power tools and assisting in emergency response, with potential evening or weekend events.

Requirements include a High school diploma or GED, one year of related experience, and a Texas driver’s license. This is a safety-sensitive position with frequent outdoor work in varied weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and renovation of streetscapes, parks, grounds, and related facilities.
  • Mow, edge, fertilize, seed, prune, plant, and remove weeds, trees, and shrubs.
  • Paint, repair, and refurbish fixtures, signs, and equipment as needed.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, chippers, backhoes, tractors, and forklifts.
  • Assist with emergency response teams and may work nights, weekends, or holidays for special events.

Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Streetscapes Supervisor, Foreman or a Senior Streetscapes Technician perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and renovation of streetscapes or community grounds, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sac’s, lakes and ponds, and other duties as assigned. Right-of-Way position will include work related to right of way trash and litter collection.Essential Employee Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of streetscapes, parks, grounds, park facilities e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees, and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment.Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as needed.Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants, and dead animals.Operate and maintain equipment such as, lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.Participate in emergency response teams.May be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.Performs other duties as assigned.Responsibilities specific to Forestry Crew:Assist with removal of trees less than 12” diameter.Tree wateringTree plantingPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
