The Salvation Army Midtown Services and Treatment Center in Missouri is hiring a full-time Treatment Support Specialist to monitor activities in Detox, Residential, and Outpatient programs while assisting clients toward therapeutic goals.

The role supports an Associate Substance Abuse Counselor and helps maintain a safe, clean, and healthy therapeutic environment; requires a high school diploma and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of work experience.
• Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision.
• Must think independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Must maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client evaluations and develop treatment plans, including screenings and intakes.
• Perform breathalyzer and urinalysis tests for clients.
• Conduct routine search and seizure procedures.
• Orient clients on admission into the program.
• Conduct financial screenings and admit clients per policy.
• Answer phones, screen, and refer to Intake Coordinator as needed.
• Counsel detox clients about treatment options and referrals.
• Refer eligible clients to MAT in consultation with ACS/Counselor.
• Lead group counseling activities for Residential or Outpatient services.
• Lead group education sessions for Residential, Outpatient, and Family Support.

Job description

The Salvation Army Midtown Services and Treatment Center is looking for a full-time Treatment Support Specialist. This individual will monitor all activities associated with the Substance Abuse Program including Detox, Residential, and Outpatient Treatment Programs. This position will also perform the duties of an Associate Substance Abuse Counselor and related duties to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy therapeutic environment, assisting clients with achieving their therapeutic goals.

This is a 40 hour per week position with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour. The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center.

EssentialFunctions

1. Conduct client evaluation interviews, assess type of treatment required, develop treatment plan; include screenings and intakes when admitted into treatment.
2. Perform clients’ breathalyzer and urinalysis.
3. Conduct routine search and seizure procedures.
4. Orient clients upon admission into the program.
5. Conduct financial screenings and accept clients according to the program policy guidelines.
6. Answer phones and conduct screening and place on waitlist or refer to Intake Coordinator.
7. Counsel detox clients about treatment options in the program; refer to other agencies, as needed.
8. Refer eligible clients to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in consultation with ACS/Counselor.
9. Conduct group counseling activities; Residential or Outpatient Treatment Services per ACS.
10. Lead group education sessions for Residential, Outpatient, and Family Support per ACS.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and one-year work experience. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision. Good communication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities are essential.

Required at time of hire:

Family Safety Care Registry Check.

Required within 60 days of employment:

• Hepatitis A vaccine documentation required by the City of St. Louis Health Department.
• Annual TB test.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Serv-Safe Certification.
• Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor Certification (for all daytime staff performing groups).

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Occasionally lifts 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds. Most work will be indoors in a temperature control environment.
