Job summary

The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center in Missouri is seeking a part-time Treatment Support Specialist to monitor activities across Detox, Residential, and Outpatient programs. Duties include assisting clients with therapeutic goals, performing duties of an Associate Substance Abuse Counselor, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.

Position is 24 hours per week with a starting wage of $15.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of work experience.
• Ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities.
• Good communication and confidentiality skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client evaluation interviews and develop treatment plans.
• Perform breathalyzer and urinalysis testing for clients.
• Orient clients on admission into the program and screen for eligibility.
• Assist with intake referrals and waitlist management.
• Lead group counseling sessions for Residential and Outpatient services.
• Refer eligible clients to Medication Assisted Treatment in consultation with staff.
• Maintain a safe, clean therapeutic environment and document activities.
• Answer phones, screen calls, and coordinate with Intake Coordinator.
• Provide outreach and education as part of treatment services.
• Support staff in delivering comprehensive substance abuse treatment.

The Salvation Army Midtown Service and Treatment Center is looking for a part‑time Treatment Support Specialist. This individual willmonitor all activities associated with the Substance Abuse Program including Detox, Residential, and Outpatient Treatment Programs. They will also perform duties of an Associate Substance Abuse Counselor and related duties to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy therapeutic environment, assisting clients with achieving their therapeutic goals.

EssentialFunctions:

1. Conduct client evaluation interviews, assess type of treatment required, develop treatment plan; include screenings and intakes when admitted into treatment.
2. Perform clients’ breathalyzer and urinalysis.
3. Conduct routine search and seizure procedures.
4. Orient clients upon admission into the program.
5. Conduct financial screenings and accept clients according to the program policy guidelines.
6. Answer phones and conduct screening and place on waitlist or refer to Intake Coordinator.
7. Counsel detox clients about treatment options in the program; refer to other agencies, as needed.
8. Refer eligible clients to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in consultation with ACS/Counselor.
9. Conduct group counseling activities; Residential or Outpatient Treatment Services per ACS.
10. Lead group education sessions for Residential, Outpatient and Family Support per ACS.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and one-year work experience. Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimal supervision. Must think independently and demonstrate sound judgment. Must be supportive of The Salvation Army’s mission and policies. The position requires a high level of confidentiality. Good communication skills as well as the ability to work with diverse and challenging personalities are essential.

Required within 60 days of employment:

Hepatitis A vaccine documentation required by the City of St. Louis Health Department. Annual TB test. Current CPR certificate. Serv-Safe Certification. Missouri Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor Certification (for all daytime staff performing groups).

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Occasionally lifts 20 pounds and sometimes up to 40 pounds. Most work will be indoors in a temperature control environment.
