The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Treatment Plant Supervisor - Wastewater to lead and improve the day-to-day operations of our Utilities Department. Are you service-oriented? Could you excel in a fast-paced environment? If so, you may be perfect for this position!

The Treatment Plant Supervisor-Wastewater earns a competitive hourly salary of $28.40 to $30.74/based on qualifications and experience. Additionally, the city pays all premiums for dental, long-term protection, and life insurance, plus the majority of the medical premium for employees and their dependents. We also offer a retirement plan through the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with a 2:1 employer match, along with other benefits such as paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and wellness programs.

Earn up to $5,000 in hiring incentives when you join the City of Pearland's Utilities team as a licensed TCEQ Water Operator! Incentive amounts vary by license grade:

Grade C License - $2500
Grade B License - $3500
Grade A License - $5000

A Day in the Life as the Treatment Plant Supervisor

Job Summary: Responsible for the operation and performance of wastewater plants; provides leadership and supervision to operators.

Supervisory Functions

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the unit, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.

Essential Functions
  • Attend work regularly and punctually.
  • Perform repairs and assist with major maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot plant process equipment and control systems.
  • Assist in planning and designing plant expansions or upgrades.
  • Maintain availability for call-outs during off-hours.
  • Monitor plant performance and ensure compliance with permits.
  • Manage procurement and contract work.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports.
  • Perform lab work and substitute for operators when needed.
  • Travel for parts and equipment procurement.
  • Conduct sampling and inspections.
  • Assist with lift stations and wells as needed.
  • Schedule and oversee contract work, conduct safety meetings, and communicate with superiors.
  • Develop SOPs, review policies, and handle personnel issues.
  • Remain available as essential personnel during emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of experience as a Chief Operator or Operator in a category B Wastewater Plant.
  • Knowledge of conventional and S.B.R. treatment plants.
  • Class "B" Wastewater Treatment certification or higher.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficiency in math, graph interpretation, and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of laboratory and regulatory standards.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Operational knowledge of relevant software and equipment.
