Job summary

The Office of City Finance (OCF) of the City of Seattle is hiring an Accountant to support Treasury operations, including bank accounts, ACH, warrants, and credit card reconciliations. The role collaborates with internal accounting teams to improve procedures and ensure accurate reporting.

This full-time, onsite position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, 1–2 years in accounting or treasury operations, and a flexible hybrid option with at least three days on site per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent (or combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this class).
• 1–2-year experience in accounting, treasury or banking operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank account management tasks including opening, closing, tracking, and maintaining bank accounts, ACH rejects and NSF research, ACH verifications, and bank account reconciliation.
• Perform daily issuances, cancellations, tracking, and maintenance of warrants; manage credit card tasks, including opening, closing, tracking, and maintaining card terminals and merchant IDs, chargeback research, and transaction reconciliations.
• Conduct research, monitoring, and analysis of financial transactions; review and verify the collection and deposit of miscellaneous revenues to fulfill reporting responsibilities.
• Perform monthly reconciliation of various programs, including the transit benefit program, and resolve discrepancies; prepare and maintain accounts receivable billing for the City.
• Oversee the Treasury Unclaimed Property process, including preparing the annual report to the State of Washington.
• Assist in the preparation and processing of collections activities and packages; maintain and update assigned financial operating procedures and systems.
• Work collaboratively with accounting staff from other units to provide information and improve processes for greater efficiency.
