Job summary

The City of Alexandria seeks a Treasury Accountant I to support the collection, reconciliation, reporting, and safeguarding of City revenues. You will handle tax accounts, payments, and banking activities with strong customer service and Excel skills.

You will work with Munis, RCS, RBS, RevOne, UPsafety, and related systems in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, especially during tax due dates and billing cycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
• Experience in local government finance, treasury, banking, revenue collection, or accounts receivable.
• Experience performing account reconciliations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel proficiency, including Pivot Tables and lookup functions.
• Excellent customer service and ability to communicate financial information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform account, bank, payment, and tax system reconciliations.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies and taxpayer inquiries.
• Analyze financial transactions and prepare reports.
• Assist with personal property and real estate tax refund reviews and related documentation.
• Collaborate with Accounting regarding journal entries and financial reporting.
• Treasury customer support to taxpayers in-person, mail, phone, and email.
• Assist with cashiering, payment processing, banking, lockbox, and treasury operations.
• Utilize systems including Munis, RCS, RBS, RevOne, UPsafety, banking platforms.
• Participate in testing, implementation, and improvement of financial systems and processes.
