Roadway Project Manager

Base pay range: $150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

A long-established heavy civil contractor with 100+ years of industry experience, specializing in roadway, bridge, underground utility, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

We’re seeking an experienced Roadway Project Manager to lead field operations across multiple highway and civil infrastructure projects in Central Illinois. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple field teams, and has a strong background in heavy civil construction.

Location: Champaign, IL (projects across Central IL)

Travel: ~50% | Company vehicle + fuel card provided

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee field operations, safety, scheduling, cost control, and contract administration
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, materials, and equipment planning
  • Lead safety planning and ensure compliance across all job sites
  • Prepare and track budgets, cost‑to‑complete projections, schedules, and change orders
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, logs, and reporting (weekly quantities, budgets, CO logs)
  • Identify scope changes, risks, and opportunities for improved performance
  • Drive projects to successful completion while ensuring quality and safety standards
Qualifications
  • 10+ years’ experience in heavy civil/roadway/bridge project management
  • Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
  • OSHA 30 required
  • Salary: $150,000–$180,000+ with merit‑based increases
