The Anchorage School District in Alaska is seeking a Teacher Visually Impaired for the 2026-27 school year to travel between assigned schools and provide direct or consultative TVI services to students aged 3–21 with visual impairments.

The position requires a valid Alaska educator certificate with Blind/VI endorsement, and experience working with VI students is preferred. The role emphasizes collaboration with IEP teams and use of assistive technologies to support access to curriculum.

Qualifications

• Valid Alaska teaching certificate with Blind/VI endorsement by start date.
• Evidence of content knowledge via degree/minor or Praxis/endorsement.
• Experience with blind/VI students preferred.

Responsabilités

• Develop and modify lesson plans for VI students using Braille and tech.
• Use assistive tech (Braille 2000, JAWS, iPad) to access ASD curriculum.
• Participate in IEP meetings and eligibility decisions.
• Collaborate with Braille specialist and staff to adapt materials.
• Maintain effective communication with families.
