Job summary

Morehouse Parish School District seeks a Special Education Teacher – Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) to serve PreK through 12th grade. This itinerant role travels between school sites to deliver direct instruction and consultative support aligned with IEPs.

You will teach Braille, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and adapt materials; collaborate with families, teachers, and related service providers to ensure access to the general curriculum and equitable educational

Qualifications

• Valid Louisiana teaching certificate in Special Education or related field.
• Eligibility for or current certification as a TVI.
• Knowledge of special education laws and instructional practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Alternative Certification Path: Certified teachers without VI endorsement must agree to pursue add-on certification within a district-approved timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across PreK–12.
• Deliver instruction in Braille, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and compensatory skills.
• Adapt instructional materials (large print, Braille, digital formats).
• Support access to general education curriculum.
• Participate in IEP development and implementation.
• Conduct and contribute to evaluations and assessments.
• Maintain compliance with IDEA and LDOE regulations.
• Maintain service logs and progress data
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers.
• Provide staff training and consultation.
• Communicate with families regarding progress and strategies.
• Travel between assigned schools to deliver services.
• Provide services in homes, daycares, and community settings when required.
