Job summary

I-5 Design Build is seeking a Traveling Construction Superintendent to lead on-site work at projects nationwide, with assignments typically 2 to 18 months long and an average of about eight months. The role combines superintendent duties with select preconstruction and project-management tasks, coordinating field operations and subs, and maintaining project records.

Based in Lacey, WA, you will travel and stay near active sites as needed.

Qualifications

• At least five years of superintendent-level experience leading high-end commercial construction.
• Experience with casino, hospitality, restaurant, entertainment, or high-end retail projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, sequencing, safety, and quality control.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
• Experience coordinating and evaluating commercial subcontractors.
• Working knowledge of Procore or comparable construction-management software.
• Ability to develop and manage schedules using Microsoft Project or a similar platform.
• Strong computer literacy and comfort maintaining digital project records.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and remain near projects for extended periods.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, extended hours, or fast-track schedules when projects require it.
• Collaborative leadership style and comfort working with an involved management team.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day construction activities at assigned project sites.
• Manage project schedules, sequencing, quality, safety, and field productivity.
• Help identify, evaluate, and coordinate qualified subcontractors.
• Supervise subcontractors, traveling field crews, vendors, and on-site trades.
• Confirm that work complies with drawings, specifications, codes, and company standards.
• Maintain daily reports, schedules, inspections, manpower records, and field documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, architects, engineers, inspectors, and clients.
• Address field conditions and resolve construction or coordination issues promptly.
• Maintain frequent, clear communication with company leadership and the project team.
• Provide direction and mentorship to field personnel while supporting a collaborative culture.
