  • OSHA 30-hour required; Master license in the related trade preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and equipment layout drawings.

Role Overview

The Traveling Senior Superintendent oversees commercial construction projects and manages project needs including materials, personnel, schedules, and communication with project management teams, customers, and building officials. As the senior field authority on site, this role runs large-scale plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and insulation scopes and holds the schedule, safety, and quality standard from mobilization through closeout. This is a traveling role based out of the DFW area with project assignments in East Texas. Primary trade emphasis is plumbing and sheet metal, with full working command of mechanical, piping, and insulation scopes expected.

Core Responsibilities
  • Run and manage large-scale commercial plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and insulation construction projects, including the ability to oversee multiple jobsites simultaneously.
  • Lead a crew of up to 40 installers at multiple job sites, from Foreman through Apprentice personnel.
  • Utilize project schedules, milestones, submittals, contract documents, and in-house shop drawings to coordinate work on site with other trades.
  • Communicate current and future labor needs to the operations or project manager, and forecast project labor through completion with project managers.
  • Participate in BIM and constructability meetings from project start through completion, and get long-lead, prefabrication, and kitting items ordered early to meet schedule.
  • Communicate with project managers on unresolved project issues or potential delays: RFIs, change orders, design flaws, ASIs, and submittal delays.
  • Act as liaison between the General Contractor and the company to maintain and build the relationship.
  • Accountable for the safe performance of personnel and equipment on assigned job sites; conduct safety meetings and safety audits.
  • Hold field leaders accountable for safety audits, three-week look-aheads, and daily task plans.
  • Hold foremen accountable for training and mentoring the workers on their projects.
  • Complete required electronic documentation, including daily reports, next-week plans, as-built drawings, accident reports, and disciplinary reports; verify timecards for payroll entry.
  • Attend weekly jobsite meetings and walk project sites daily. Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned.
Required Background
  • 10+ years of construction supervision experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with direct supervision of mechanical and plumbing trades
  • Proven experience running large-scale commercial plumbing, piping, sheet metal, and insulation projects ranging from $2M - $8M+ in value
  • Experience overseeing jobsite personnel of a minimum of ten (10) direct reports, foreman through apprentice
  • OSHA 30-hour required; Master license in trade in the corresponding state preferred
  • Experience completing required documentation electronically, with familiarity reading blueprints, schematics, and equipment layout drawings
  • Willingness and ability to travel from DFW to East Texas project assignments
  • Data center, healthcare, or mission-critical construction experience is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work from ladders, manlifts, and other equipment at various heights
  • Ability to pass required background, drug, motor vehicle record, and physical ability screening
