Job summary

NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray, is seeking a Traveling Project Engineer in Franklin, TN. This entry-level role provides hands-on experience across the project lifecycle with opportunities to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will support safety, cost tracking, scheduling, procurement, and reporting while working under supervision to develop professional project skills and contribute to diverse turnkey scopes including concrete, steel, and finishes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or at least four years of relevant construction experience.
• Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of construction software, such as Procore, Bluebeam, CMIC, etc.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Analytical mindset and problem‑solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn, improve, and contribute to a team.
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Ability to adapt to different roles and requirements within the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project safety compliance efforts.
• Support the understanding and distribution of job cost information and project estimates.
• Contribute to project sequencing and scheduling efforts.
• Help track project progress and participate in the analysis of production.
• Assist in project cost reporting and other administrative duties.
• Support material/equipment procurement processes.
• Help manage change order requests and tracking.
• Coordinate with general contractors/owners under supervision.
• Assist with reporting requirements, including field time and productivity, materials, safety, and other relevant aspects.
