Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in patient access, scheduling, registration and financial clearance preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA and EMTALA rules; familiarity with insurance pre-certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients for appointments and manage patient flow.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
• Perform registration for walk-in patients and verify changes.
• Verify insurance benefits and collect patient liability and balances.
• Refer patients to Financial Counselor when financial assistance is needed.
• Complete visit closure and schedule follow-up appointments.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and pre-certification policies.
• Communicate process improvements to management and meet productivity targets.
• Maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, and staff.
